Engagement Photography - Hannah & Sean

The reason I like shoot weddings is the feeling. By nature I'm a stoic person, but there's a part of me that is drawn to places of intense emotion. I like it when brides laugh, bridesmaids tear up and grooms cry. I like seeing genuine happiness and joy and peace. It's a special thing that I get to do, to witness old families come together and new families be born. I cherish these powerful moments of beauty.

Every so often I come into contact with people I really admire. During our engagement shoot I found that Hannah Hillam and Sean Juárez very much qualify for that title. Theirs was one of my favorite sessions all year. Being around the respect, love and friendship that they so obviously have for each other was something that I am lucky to have experience.

I was really excited when they asked me to shoot their engagements. They are both very talented and I consider it a real treat to do work for other creatives. Hannah writes a blog called Verbal Vomit which I really like. She wrote a post about how she and Sean ended up together. She's so cool. Read it.

The little engaged couple has wandered too far from the herd and will now be killed by a lion. Rrrrawr!

  5. Thank you. The first time I went to that restaurant I told myself I had to come back with my camera. I'm glad I did because they closed about a month later.

  6. I love the shot in the Chinese restaurant, one of my all-time fav engagement shots. Hannah looks so much like her mother.
