I really love photographing musicians.
With certain kinds of portraiture, one is expected to produce very specific results. Family photos should be touching, engagement photos must illustrate love, wedding photos absolutely have to be in focus.
Conformists.
Band photography doesn't start out with that kind of pretense. Members are typically not in love, nor are photos required to be touching. As an artist I typically have more freedom to portray musicians how I please. This situation lends itself to photos that are often more conceptual in nature.
So Martin Bradshaw recently approached me about photographing his band, Gigawhat. I know Martin, I've photographed him before, and I figured that he would be receptive to an idea I've been kicking around.
He was!
This project with Gigawhat is coming out in two parts. Today and Friday I post portraits I made of the members of Gigawhat, Martin and Landon. Then (weather permitting) Monday I post the other half of our project.
I'm excited.

is it just me or does he have one REALLY thick chin hair?
ReplyDeleteLet's make Martin feel really self-conscious
ReplyDeleteTrevor, I think you just edited that hair to make it look massive.
