These are the photos I shot on the way there. A lot of these were made from the passengers seat of my Dad's '92 Honda Accord.

Balloons, clouds, kites, planes & windmills. Those are all things I like to photograph, not because they are inherently compelling subjects, but because they can be an interesting addition to a already good photo. The trick is to stay away from the cliche.
But that's always the trick, isn't it?

Packing up at the Motel 6 in Wyoming.

This is called a dragline. It's really, really big.

Naturally Dad wanted to stop to check out the dragline. Here he is, sizing it up.
I bet he could take it.

Wyoming man. That place is pretty boring. On the way through that state I found that the only thing to do is take pictures. I seem to be concentrating very hard on that task.

Field & a big sky. I must have taken this photo 20 times during the trip. In this instance I you can see my knee reflected and (maybe) a McDonald's bag.

Viscous tar at a Wyoming rest stop.

At the Estes, Colorado YMCA an anthropomorphic bear tells us that the fire danger level is at "high."
(I think it's important to note that I spelled "anthropomorphic" correctly on the first try.)

Final destination at the Estes, Colorado YMCA.
I'll post some photos of my actual family on Friday.
1. Ever since you learned the word "viscous," there's been no living with you.
ReplyDelete2. Out of all the words to be able to spell (or not), of course the one you can spell is "anthropomorphic."
1. Is that why you moved to the East Coast?
ReplyDelete2. There are these logical rules you can apply to English spelling, it just takes some getting used to. I probably have an easier time with words rooted in Latin.
